One of the most common questions I've been asked lately is "are home prices dropping?" At first glance, it might appear so but that is simply not the case. CoreLogic (a leading data agregator for all things home value related) recently released information indicating home prices are continuing to appreciate - just not at the same rate as in the past couple of years. I think this is a great way to look at our current market. Home values ARE continuing to appreciate - at a slower pace.
I have reviewed forecasts from 7 expert organizations that can be trusted. Each forecasts appreciation during the year with a nationwide average of 8.5% (ranging from 2.7% - 10.8%). It does not matter which of these trusted sources you may follow - each shows price appreciation, just not as much as the last year and a half.
Now is still a good time to invest / purchase real estate!
